Mental Health Professional

The Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office/Jail Division is announcing a hiring process for the position of Mental Health Professional.  This is a part-time position, 8 hours per week and the hours will vary depending on applicant availability and needs of the jail/patients.  Pottawattamie County is an equal opportunity employer.

Essential Job Duties:
The Mental Health Professional is responsible for providing direct clinical services and consultation services to patients located in the Pottawattamie County jail in accordance with policies and procedures of Mental Health Services, policies and regulations of the Jail division and in accordance with ethics and standards of staff’s member’s discipline.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in psychology, social work, or a related field from an accredited college or university is required.  Licensed Independent Social Worker is required.  Professional experience required which indicates knowledge of group and individual mental health counseling, diagnosis, and treatment of major mental disorders, crisis intervention, and/or psychological evaluation techniques.

Hiring Process:
Resumes will be reviewed for qualifications and experience.  All applicants considered for employment must meet the minimum standards set forth by the Pottawattamie County Sheriff.  Those applicants selected for interviews will be required to complete standard employment application. 

All applicants will be notified of their status in the hiring process.  At the time of a conditional offer of employment, applicants will be required to submit to pre-employment screenings including:  medical physical, drug screen, voice stress and background checks.

Salary Range:
Incumbent shall be paid based on hours worked.  Hourly rate for July 1, 2011 – June 30, 2012 is $23.30 per hour.



 

 


Southwest IA Juvenile Detention Center Executive Director

The Southwest Iowa Juvenile Detention Center is announcing a hiring process for the full-time position of Executive Director.  The Southwest Iowa Juvenile Detention Center is an equal opportunity employer.

Essential Job Duties:
The Executive Director is responsible for managing a 25 bed juvenile detention facility.  The Executive Director reports directly to the 28E Board of the Fourth Judicial District, however, the work requires close cooperation with Juvenile Court Services, Department of Human Services and other agencies.  This position is responsible for the administration, supervision and daily operations of the juvenile detention facility.  The Executive Director is responsible for providing the residents and staff with a safe and secure housing environment and ensures that all operations and staffing requirements meet or exceed the licensing guidelines established by federal and state laws as they pertain to Juvenile Detention facilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, preferably in human services or criminal justice with 3-5 years experience in administration, supervision and management preferably in a correctional or other locked setting.
  • Experience with staff training and development.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the judicial process, law enforcement procedures and the dynamics of juvenile detention.
  • Ability to develop and manage an annual budget.
  • Ability to successfully pass drug test, criminal background and child abuse registry checks.
